Verify details about your business
By verifying details about your business, you promote transparency and help consumers make decisions with confidence.
There are two forms of verification that are registered automatically when you sign up: registered domain name ownership and bank account.
We use a third-party database to confirm the ownership of the registered domain. We also register a bank account upon purchase of a subscription.
Additional verification includes providing proof of identity and verifying your contact details via Google Business Profile (formerly known as Google My Business).
Any additional details you verify will be publicly displayed as checkmarks in the Company activity section of your Trustpilot profile.
Verify details about your business
In order to verify additional details, you’ll need to have claimed your profile first. Once you’ve done that:
-
In Trustpilot Business, go to Settings > Public profile settings > Profile page.
-
Under Verify company details, you’ll see several verification options.
-
Depending on which option you choose, the process of the verification method will vary. Read more about each option below.
Proof of identity
To verify your identity, an Admin user on your account will need to provide valid identification. The user needs to upload a photo of a valid document (not expired or physically damaged). Supported documents include:
- Passports from all countries
- ID cards, driver's licenses, and residence permits vary. Check out this list of supported documents by country.
Contact details
To verify your contact details, you’ll need to sync your Google Business Profile with Trustpilot. Your Google Business Profile will need to be "Verified" in order to sync and verify your contact details on Trustpilot.
- If your Google Business Profile has the status "Verified", we'll sync your contact details to your Trustpilot profile, and a checkmark will be added to your contact information.
- If your Google Business Profile has the status "Unverified" or "Pending", the checkmark next to the item won't appear. Verify your account in Google Business Profile, then try again.
Registered domain name ownership
We automatically verify your domain ownership through a third-party source, which is re-verified every month. To receive this checkmark, make sure your domain is registered with the third-party source via this link: D-U-N-S® Manager Dun & Bradstreet. Once registered, Trustpilot will automatically verify your domain each month. If you're already registered, the green checkmark will appear after the next scheduled verification.
Bank account
This verification is available to businesses with a paid plan, as we collect payment details once a payment method has been set up.
Who can verify details?
Only an Admin can verify details. If you're using our Free plan, you’re the Admin of your account.
