Set up local reviews for your company’s locations

When your existing customers are talking about you, your potential customers are listening.

Start collecting reviews today!

Collect local service reviews of your branches or stores to help you manage, display and compare customer satisfaction. It’s also a great way to stand out in local searches.

Trustpilot Local helps you enrich your service reviews with relevant information about your company’s locations. You'll have a global TrustScore for your entire company, and local TrustScores for each individual location.

We'll show you how to set up locations and start collecting local reviews for your company’s different branches or outlets. Then you can manage and analyze how your locations are performing, and display local reviews on your website.

Add a location

  1. In Trustpilot Business, go to Settings > Public profile settings > Locations. Go to Settings, Public profile settings, Locations
  2. On the Locations page, click the Add one location button.
  3. On the Add one location page, enter the following information for each of your company’s locations:
    • Location name
    • ID (this will be used when inviting customers to review the specific location)
    • Street address
    • Postal code
    • Locality
    • Country
    • Phone number (optional, recommended)
    • Page URL (optional, recommended)

If you need to add multiple locations, please get in touch with our Support Team. They’ll be happy to help you upload the relevant information.

Edit or delete a location

You can always add additional locations, and edit information about existing locations. To edit a location, click the Edit icon at the end of the location's entry.

You can only delete a location if it hasn't been reviewed.

Once a location's been reviewed, you can only delete it if the location no longer exists. If this happens, click on the Request to remove button. If your request is approved, your location will be removed.

Note: Reviews that are attached to a deleted location will not be deleted. These remain visible on your company’s main profile page.

Get local reviews for your locations

Once you’re done setting up your company’s locations, start collecting service reviews with Trustpilot Local. Use our Automatic Feedback Service or Invitations API to do this.

Note: You may need a developer to help you do this, as you need to dynamically add the location ID in each invitation.

Use the Automatic Feedback Service (AFS)

The Automatic Feedback Service works by configuring your webshop or email system to add Trustpilot as “Bcc” in order confirmation emails. Bcc’ing Trustpilot in these emails triggers our AFS tool to send automatic review invitations to those customers.

With Trustpilot Local, you can associate the reviews you get from customers with specific locations. To set that up, you’ll need to include the location ID as a structured data snippet in your emails following these two steps:

  1. Set up the Automatic Feedback Service.
  2. Add the following Structured Data Snippet in the source code of the trigger email. This ensures that the location ID is dynamically included depending on the user's location.
<script type="application/json+trustpilot">
{
  "recipientName": "Name MacNameson",
  "recipientEmail": "customer@email.com",
  "referenceId": "1234abcd",
  "locationId": "id1"
}
</script>

Learn more about how to use the structured data snippet and what other properties you can pass.

Use the Invitations API

You can also use our Invitations API to trigger invitation emails.

  1. Get an API key and secret.
  2. Use the Invitation API endpoints to trigger email invitations.
  3. Dynamically include the location of the user with each invitation.
{
  "recipientEmail": "customer@email.com",
  "recipientName": "Name MacNameson",
  "referenceId": "1234abcd",
  "locationId": "id1",
  "senderEmail": "my@company.com",
  "replyTo": "my@company.com",
  "preferredSendTime": "2018-10-12T13:37:00",
  "senderName": "My Company",
  "locale": "en-US",
  "templateId": "507f191e810c19729de860ea"
}

When one of your customers receives an invitation to leave a review, they'll be asked to review that specific location.

Use Business Generated Links

If you use Business Generated Links to send out your own review invitations, you need to include the location field when you add customer information to the payload object. Use the location ID you’ve given that specific location.

{
 "email":"xyz@domain.com",
 "name":"John Smith",
 "ref":"1234",
 "locationId": "id1",
 "skus":["sku1","sku2","sku3"],
 "tags":["tag1","tag2","tag3"]
}

Check out our developer guide on Business Generated Links for more information on what other properties you can pass.

Once you’ve received reviews for your locations, start managing and analyzing them to gain insights into what your customers think about your company on a local level.
