How to access, download, correct, or delete your personal data

It's easy, seriously! In line with the GDPR and other applicable privacy laws, we give you control over the information we process about you. Access, download, correct or delete your personal data in just a few clicks.

Your personal data on Trustpilot

Personal data is any information that relates to an identifiable individual. Our Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect from you and how we collect, use, disclose, transfer, and store it.

Access your personal data

Under the GDPR, you have the right to ask us for copies of your personal data. This is called the right of access by the data subject or a data subject access request.

If you've got a Trustpilot user account, we provide an easy-to-use feature that lets you access core personal data we hold against your account.

To access your personal data:

  1. Log in to Trustpilot.com.
  2. Under your user icon in the top right-hand corner, select My Settings from the drop-down menu.
  3. Scroll down to the See your Trustpilot data section, and click the link. This provides an overview of core personal data we have about you.

This data includes:

  • Your contact, user account and preferences information.
  • Information about your reviews and ratings on Trustpilot.
  • Your device and location information.
  • Communication information — emails to our Content Integrity Team, reviews that you've flagged, and locations that you've flagged.
  • Review invitations information.

We also collect some additional personal data that can't be accessed or downloaded via your Trustpilot user account, such as analytics information including your Trustpilot search history, time you spend on our site, features or functions you've accessed, links you've clicked, etc. If you want to get a copy of all personal data we process about you, please contact our Privacy Team at privacy@trustpilot.com.

Download your personal data

If you'd like to download your core personal data and any reviews you've created on Trustpilot, you can do this easily from your Trustpilot user account. In GDPR terms, this is called the right to portability.

To download your personal data:

  1. Log in to Trustpilot.com.
  2. Under your user icon in the top right-hand corner, select My Settings from the drop-down menu.
  3. Scroll down to the Download your profile section and click the Download information button.

This will download your personal profile information, including any service and product reviews you've written, as a standard file format called JSON.

Correct your personal data

If you believe that your personal data on Trustpilot is inaccurate and you want to edit it, you can so via your Trustpilot user account.

Update your personal and email settings

We've got a step-by-step guide to managing your personal settings and email settings — read it here.

Edit or delete your reviews

If you'd like help editing or deleting any of the reviews you've written on Trustpilot, you'll find everything you need to know in this support article.

Delete your personal data

You can request to have your personal data, including your profile and reviews, permanently deleted from Trustpilot. In the GDPR, this is called the right to erasure or right to be forgotten.

Please note that this is not absolute and we will not delete personal data which we are required by law or have compelling legitimate interests to keep. For more information, please see the section 'How long do we store your personal data?' in our Privacy Policy.

There are two ways to permanently remove yourself from Trustpilot's systems and delete your personal data:

  1. Email privacy@trustpilot.com with a request to be permanently erased from Trustpilot's systems.
  2. Log into Trustpilot and click on your user icon in the top right-hand corner. Select My Settings from the drop-down menu. Scroll down to the Delete user section and click the Delete my profile button.

Important: If you change your mind, this action cannot be undone. We won't be able to recover your reviews, let companies know about your reviews, or reinstate anything you created on Trustpilot — so please be absolutely certain that you want to delete your account!

Don't have a Trustpilot user account?

No worries. If you don't have a user account and you want to exercise your rights in relation to the personal data we have about you, you can email our Privacy Team at privacy@trustpilot.com and request to access, correct or delete your personal data.

Review invitations data

If a business invites you to write a review through Trustpilot, it is that business - and not Trustpilot - that is responsible for the sending of that invitation, for ensuring that the invitation complies fully with any applicable laws, and for determining the purpose and means of any personal data that is collected or processed about you in order to make that happen.

In GDPR terms, the business is the data controller, while Trustpilot is the data processor whose services support the issuing of such invitations in accordance with the instructions of the business. To send email invitations on behalf of a business, Trustpilot receives the following personal data from the business: your name, email address, and a reference number. This is called the review invitations data.

If you want to access, download or delete the review invitations data used to send you review invitation emails, or have any questions about how the business obtained or uses this data, please contact the business in question directly, as Trustpilot does not control this data and will be unable to action such requests.

Data connected to business accounts

Personal data held in relation to your Trustpilot Business account is not connected to your reviewer identity on Trustpilot. If you want to request access, correction or deletion of all the personal data related to your business account, please email our Privacy Team at privacy@trustpilot.com.

You can delete your Trustpilot Business account by following the steps outlined in this article. However, this might not completely remove all your personal data from our systems.
