How to use Trustpilot APIs
We've developed our own APIs, which allow you to easily fetch Trustpilot data to build a custom integration with your business. Here we’ll explain what they are and how to use them.
What's an API?
An application programming interface (API) is a software-to-software interface. They allow separate software systems to interact without user intervention. APIs automate tasks, so your business can save time and energy on work processes.
How do Trustpilot APIs work?
We’ve developed our own APIs, which allow you to easily fetch Trustpilot data to build a custom integration with your business. Our APIs offer more control and flexibility - provided that your business adheres to our integration and brand guidelines.
Trustpilot APIs have multiple functions. With them you can:
- Use webhooks to pull, store, and display reviews on your website or in your marketing campaigns.
- Trigger or integrate service and product review invitations with your own email campaigns.
- Manage reviews from your own CRM or support system.
- Generate review invitation links.
Create an API application
Before you can begin to integrate our APIs for your business, the first thing you'll need to do is create an application. Follow these steps:
-
In Trustpilot Business, go to Get reviews > Invitation methods. Scroll down and click Try a different way to get reviews.
-
Click Trustpilot API.
-
You'll be directed to the Trustpilot APIs page. Under Create a new application, enter a name for your application, and the domains you want to use for redirect URIs. Separate multiple domains with a new line.
-
Click Create Application.
-
Find your new application under Your applications.
Manage your API applications
Once you have created applications for your API, you can manage them directly within Trustpilot Business. Here’s how:
-
In Trustpilot Business, go to Get reviews > Invitation methods. Scroll down and click Try a different way to get reviews.
-
Click Trustpilot API.
-
Under Your Applications, you can manage the settings for each application you create.
-
Move the toggle to enable or disable an application.
-
Click the Eye icon to view your API key or Secret.
-
Click the Copy-paste icon to copy your API key or secret to your clipboard.
-
Click Remove Application to delete an application.
You should never share the Trustpilot API key or API secret with third parties.
