Trustpilot Reviews and Bing Feed

By creating a Bing feed, we enable merchants to include Trustpilot Reviews in Bing Merchant Ratings.

An example of Trustpilot reviews in organic search on Bing:

What is Microsoft Bing Ad?

Bing Ads (formerly Microsoft adCenter and MSN adCenter) is a service that provides pay per click advertising on both the Bing and Yahoo! search engines.

What is Bing Rich Caption and how to enable it?

As per Bing Rich Captions, it helps to drive traffic to customer sites. When customers search and your product pages appear in the organic search results, the product information you’ve submitted via a feed will appear below the blue links in the search results.

Price and availability information appears and is listed as long as the URLs of the feed, and of the search results for your products, match. By offering the details potential customers need, they can make more informed decisions about the ads they want to click on, putting them closer to a purchase decision.

Please refer to Bing's Article on Rich captions for enabling rich captions and initial troubleshooting.

What are the criteria for showing merchant ratings in Bing ads? What are the eligibility requirements for showing reviews on Bing?

As per Bing’s Article on How do I enhance my ads with extensions and annotations, Bing adds annotations (for example, Merchant Ratings) if your ad meets the eligibility requirements, and if Bing determines that the annotation can improve your ad performance.

As per Bing, the eligibility requirements are:

  • Your campaign should be set up as a "Search and content campaign”.
  • The customer must be searching on Bing.com, Bing.co.uk, Bing.co.nz, Bing.com.au, Bing.de, or Bing.fr.

In most cases, your business must have at least 30 unique reviews -- each from the past 12 months - and a composite rating of at least 3.5 stars or higher. However, we may show ratings for merchants with fewer than 30 reviews if we have sufficient data from other sources to determine an accurate rating.

How does Bing use Trustpilot Data?

Bing shows Trustpilot reviews on Bing Merchant Ratings. Trustpilot considers customers and non-customers alike. As an example, to see merchant ratings on Bing for wiggle.com, go to the URL:

The screenshot below shows how wiggle.com only have reviews from one source (Trustpilot).

Replace wiggle.com with another domain (for example replacementlaptopkeys.com ) to get merchant ratings for replacementlaptopkeys.com

URL: http://www.bing.com/merchant/reviews?mid=replacementlaptopkeys.com

Note that replacementlaptopkeys.com has reviews from two sources, ResellerRatings and Trustpilot.

How and when Trustpilot sends Bing feeds?

Trustpilot sends the feeds split up based on markets (country). We will generate a daily feed of reviews for the last 14 days, as well as a monthly feed of all reviews, for each market. The monthly feed will be generated on the first of every month.

Does Bing recalculate the review score to suit their platform or to accommodate other review sources? If so, what is this new score called?

Yes, they recalculate the score because they have multiple review sources as mentioned in Bing’s article and are listed below:

  • ResellerRatings
  • Yahoo! Shopping
  • Epinions
  • bizrate
  • TrustPilot
  • PriceGrabber
  • ViewPoints
  • ReviewCentre
  • ShopperApproved
  • eKomi
  • Feefo

The recalculated score is called composite rating based on number of  reviews from each source.

What countries do Merchant ratings in Bing ads appear?

With reference to Bing's article on how to enhance ads with extensions and annotations, Bing ads are shown in a number of countries as shown in the screenshot below from the article.

Are merchant ratings also available for Yahoo-Bing network?

Bing Merchant ratings are available on Bing network and Yahoo Bing Network in the countries mentioned in Bing’s Article.
