Companies can request reference numbers from reviewers using Trustpilot's reference number function.
Sometimes it can be difficult for a company to look up the user who left the review based on the name alone. To make it easier, Trustpilot also allows reviewers to provide a reference number when posting a review.
This is not a requirement for posting the review, however it is in the best interest of both the user and company that the buying experience is quickly identifiable with a reference number. The users benefit from knowing that the reviews on Trustpilot are from a trusted source, and the company is easily able to identify the transaction when a reviewer spontaneously leaves a review.
You can also specify the term you use for your customer’s transaction. For example, Booking number or Order reference etc.
How to use the reference number function
If you wish to enable this feature, please follow these simple steps:
- Log in to your Business Portal
- Go to Service Reviews and select Set up ref number
- Choose the relevant option
- Specify the term you use for your customer transactions and Save your settings. Your customers will now be given the opportunity to enter a reference number when writing their review, but will still be able to post the review if they choose not to do so.
Please note that we are unable to validate the reference number supplied by the customer.
