What are invitations?
Trustpilot offers a range of invitation methods to help your business invite customers to leave reviews.
You can choose to invite customers manually, automatically, or through any of our other methods.
Trustpilot’s manual review invitations are quick and easy, and require little technical knowledge to set up.
There are four ways to manually invite your customers to write a review.
- Upload a file with customer data (product reviews)
- Upload a file with customer data (service reviews)
- Copy-paste customer data from a document (service reviews)
- Enter customer data manually (service reviews)
Basic invitations are best for businesses that would like to invite customers to leave a review using their own email service. They are simple, straightforward, and require little technical knowledge to set up.
When a reviewer leaves a review after receiving one of the manual invitations, the review will be labelled as “Invited” on Trustpilot.
When a reviewer leaves a review after receiving one of the following automatic invitations, the review will be labelled as “Verified” on Trustpilot.
Automatic Feedback Service (AFS)
Trustpilot’s Automatic Feedback Service (AFS) is the simplest way to control your invitations. AFS automatically sends review invitations via email after a customer purchases something or has a service experience with your business. AFS can be set up to invite your customers to write both service and product reviews.
Trustpilot eCommerce integrations
Connect your Trustpilot Business account to your eCommerce platform to send out review invitations. Our integrations communicate directly with your platform and automatically send invitations with each order. You can invite your customers to leave a service review, a product review, or both at once.
For a high level of control over how you create your invitations, use our customer API. You can use it to create your own invitations that Trustpilot sends to customers on your behalf, or to generate an invitation link to send yourself.
A Unique Link is best for businesses that want to control their email invitations using in-house tools. A Unique Link invites customers to leave service reviews without logging in to Trustpilot. Each unique link is specific to a particular customer interaction. Once your business generates the URL on your own server, use it wherever you want. Trustpilot will receive customer data when they click the unique link to leave a review.
Business Generated Links
A Business Generated Link is best for businesses that want to control their email invitations using in-house tools. A Business Generated Link invites customers to leave service and product reviews without logging in to Trustpilot. Your business generates an individual URL on your own server for each order, then embeds the link in an email to customers. Data is encrypted up until customers agree to Trustpilot’s Terms and Conditions and click to submit a review. They're a great option for businesses who prefer not to share customer PII (personally identifiable information) for privacy reasons.
